New Zealand - May 2012: Day 8

 Day 8: Skydiving day!

Took the shuttle bus from the skydiving store in the city.
nervous but at the same time very excited about skydiving :D

waiting for our turn at Nzone

Joanne was really afraid of skydiving but after much persuasion from Amy and me, she did it!! and she enjoyed it so much we didn't remember how much she was against it :)

 in suits :D

I really enjoyed the skydiving experience :) it's like cruising in the air looking at the snow mountains and sky, not at all a "free fall", although the moment they pulled the parachute it was a little scary.. The sudden drop.
It is really an achievement of my life :)

They actually have a photographer who has a camera attached to him, and he will jump off the helicopter before the tandem jumper and I, that's how they get shots of you skydiving.

New Zealand - May 2012: Day 7

Day 7 Queenstown/Milford Sound

Milford Sound. Bus at 745am.
Amy's eyes were getting worse :(

Delicious pies at the stopover

Mirror lake was really pretty! Now I know why it's called mirror lake!

drinking the water from the mountains

to board the ferry for Milford Sound!

The Fjord. It was going to rain but the sky cleared fortunately for us...

We danced and had fun like penguins! Trying to spot seals too. And that fountain which its water claimed to stop aging.. We also spent time at an underwater aquarium where we saw wildlife fishes.

Dinner was the uber delicious

FERGBURGER.

I swear it's the best burger I have ever eaten in my whole life!!!!!!
GO TO FURGBURGER IF YOU ARE EVER IN QUEENSTOWN..........

we had the fish and chicken burger..big sizes

the rest of the evening was spent donning some crazy cute hats in the stores.. hehe

New Zealand - May 2012: Day 6

Day 6 Queenstown

today's plan was Shot over Jet!
Cooked breakfast in the morning , scrambled eggs , sausages. Amy was not feeling too well with cough and uncomfortable eyes :(
Shot over jet was quite cool, similar to the 4WD we had at Mount cook but on water.. There were times we thought we were going to crash into the granite but the boat swerved away! with us on the ride was some adventurous elderly - never too old to have fun!

popular and delicious cookies!

After that we went to the below zero ice bar.. At minus 5 deg! Amy got us cheap tickets at $17, depending on timings.

Pretty cool place (pun not intended) and we had lots of fun running around and taking funny pictures!

Dinner was at a Korean restaurant in the city.

Again i felt giddy due to the lack of air :( blacked out when I went out for a breather and had the Korean ahjuuma running to me asking if I'm okay.
Couldn't see and hear properly and had to get some fresh air :(

New Zealand - May 2012: Day 4 & 5

Day 4 Lake Wanaka

Hung out at lake tekapo in the morning, having an sumptuous breakfast at Run 77.

It took us around 4hours to get to Wanaka!! Reached Wanaka late in the evening as we managed to secure a later but cheaper bus trip. It was too late to do anything so we relaxed by the lake side and took some pictures.

Joanne's camera super zoom :O

Had dinner at subway cos we couldn't decide what to eat, and went to the supermarket to get some snacks.

Base hostel was well equipped, there was personal tv and toilet, with shared tv lounge, kitchen and laundry. around $40 per person.

Day 5 Wanaka/Queenstown

The next morning we had a simple breakfast (footlong left from dinner) by the lakeside again, watching the ducks. Then we went to puzzling world, a 20-25mins walk from the city.

the maze which we spent about 45 mins and completed all 4 colour routes.

We then took the 4:30PM bus to Queenstown, where Amy stayed.

it is really a city different from where we had been. Went for dinner at Winnie's, arguably the best pizza I have ever had in my life.

Tri factor, cranberry and Brie.

Walked around in town, bought souvenirs, wanted to take a stroll but decided it was too cold! The bus driver said the temp was -2deg that night. NZ's weather is crazy huh? Amy's house was cold too , but it was a pretty decent place I can't complain.
